But sometimes I use my speakers if I want to show friends a video or something. So my question is when I get my new sound card and get my new headset that is not USB but regular 3.
So is it okay to leave my onboard audio on and just switch between it and my sound card when need be? XacTactX Supreme [H]ardness. Joined Dec 13, Messages 4, Sure, you can leave them both installed. The only time you have to worry about that is if the onboard and the sound card use similar software, because you could have driver conflicts. But outside of that rare circumstance you can leave the onboard on if you like. You can do this by touching a grounded metal object.
Better still, you should wear an anti-static wrist, clipped to a grounded metal surface. Disconnect all cables connected to the sound card — both internal and external — making a note of where each goes. Remove and set aside the screw fixing your current sound card and carefully remove the card. Good luck PS: I know it seems like over kill but it only takes one little thing to be left over and you will be in for all kinds of issues and could make it worse trying to fix it.
